New Spring / Summer wardrobe

先日、ミネソタからサオリのおじいちゃんとおばあちゃんが遊びにきてくれました。

その時一緒にサオリのお洋服をたくさん買っていただきました！

急に暖かくなってサオリの春・夏用の服が全然なくて困っていたので

本当に有り難いです。

アメリカの子供服は色遣いが派手なものが多いのですが、

子供が着ると不思議ととても可愛く思います。

これからサオリに着せるのが楽しみだな♪

桜

シカゴにも桜の木がありました！

満開でキレイだったよ～。

感激しました！！！

日本の桜が恋しくなりました。

場所は大阪ガーデン。

サイエンスミュージアムのすぐそばです。

いたるところにキレイな花が咲いていてとても美しい

日本庭園でした。今の季節が最高です！

日本もそろそろお花見の季節かな？

日本の皆さんこれから桜の季節を楽しんでください♪

I went to see beautiful cherry blossoms in Osaka garden. It's located south part of Chicago, and very close from Science and Industry Museum. 

There are only 5 or 6 cherry trees there, but I was so fascinated by the beauty of cherry blossoms.  It reminded me of my home, Japan. 

I used to enjoy ohanami party with my friends every year, so I really miss that. 

I would love to be back home during cherry blossom season, and I want Saori to enjoy ohanami with Saori someday! 

初夏

シカゴは最近すっかり夏日が続いてます。

気温27度ってもう8月みたいな天気！

サオリちゃんを連れてお出かけする時は日差しが強いので日焼け止めや

帽子が欠かせなくなりました。

でも帽子は嫌がってすぐに取ってしまうのが悩みの種。

この時はたまたま嫌がんないで帽子を被っています↓

このお天気のお陰で美味しいジェラート屋さんは大繁盛。

暑いとやっぱりアイスが食べたくなりますね。

この日は「塩キャラメル」「エクストラダークチョコレート」

「ピスタチオ」を選びました。美味でした♡

もうこのまま夏に突入かなぁ～？


I feel like summer is already here!

It's necessary to put sun screen on everyday for Saori.
Also I try to put her summer hat on her head,
but most of the time, I fail to do it since she hates wearing it!

We went to this gelato place in Lincoln Square the other day,
and got a very delicious gelato:)
This is my favorite place for a hot day like this!

Magnolia

今年も我が家の前にあるモクレンの花が咲きました！

去年は4月下旬に花が咲いたのに

今年はこの暖かいお天気のせいか1カ月も早く咲いてます。

もうすでに満開で、とても美しい限りです。

毎日窓の外を見るのが楽しい今日この頃。

サオリも毎日見て花を指差して喜んでます。

日本はもうそろそろ桜が咲くころかな。

桜もみたいな～。お花見が恋しい。

でも私は毎年モクレンでお花見気分です。

お花がたくさん咲くこの季節が一年で一番大好きな季節です。

ずっとこんな素敵な季節が続かないかなぁ～。

The magnolia tree in front of our place has beautiful flowers now! It's in full bloom and it's so gorgeous. I really hope flowers stay for a long time!!!

Last year, I remember seeing the flowers blooming late April, but because of this warm weather, flowers started blooming more than 1 month earlier this year!  

We enjoy watching the flowers from our windows every day. Saori points out the flowers and seems very happy:) 

This is my favorite season of the year. Hope spring stays long! 

Super messy!

最近自分の手で少しずつ食べるようになってから床やテーブルにご飯が散らかり放題ですごいです(笑)お顔もいつもこんな感じ！

Little by little, she tries to eat by herself, but she made so much mess that I had to take a picture!

Spring has come!

What an incredibly warm winter for Chicago this year!  Who told us that we were supposed to get the coldest winter??? huh?  But no complaint about it. I take it! Why not?

Now temperature has risen up to over 70 degrees!!! Spring has come! Yes, it's official. In fact, it already feels like summer has arrived. Travis is enjoying wearing shorts and sandals! Good weather makes people happy:) 

Anyways, Saori is doing a lot better. She still has runny nose, but it seems like that the cold is gone! So now, it's time to go outside and get some sunshine!!!

今年のシカゴの冬はとっても暖かくて本当によかった！でも当初、今年の冬はものすごく寒い冬になるはずだったみたいだけど。。。でもそんなことはどうでもいい！もう冬は終わったのですから～。

今週は毎日20度を超える暖かい気温。シカゴに春がやってきましたよ～（＾－＾）わーい！

トラさんはここ毎日Ｔシャツと短パンで暖かい気候を楽しんでいます(笑)　

サオリの風邪はもう治ったよう。まだ鼻たれてますが大丈夫そうです。こんなにいいお天気だから外にお散歩に行ってたくさん太陽の光を浴びないとね。

次回の日本帰国

次回の日本帰国の日が決定しましたのでご連絡いたします！

6月12日から7月3日まで滞在予定です。日本の家族やお友達に会えるのが今からとても楽しみです♪
一緒に遊んでくださいね！

トラさんは残念ながらお仕事の都合で来れないので今回は私とサオリの二人だけ。飛行機が心配ですが、どうにか乗り越えられますように。。。！

早くみんなに会いたいなぁ～！

Saori and I are going back to Japan this summer. We will be there from June 12th to July 3rd. We are very looking forward to seeing our family and friends:)
Unfortunately, Travis wasn't able to get his off from work, so he can't come with us. But hope that he can some next time!  I worry about our long flight just the two of us, but hopefully it will go well!

Can't wait to see everyone in Japan!

はじめての風邪

ゲホゲホと咳をし始めたサオリ。どうやら風邪をひいてしまったようです。生まれてからずっと今まで風邪をひいたことがなかったサオリ。周りの子たちが風邪をひいているのを見て、いつくるか、いつくるかと心構えしていましたが、いざ風邪をひくとやっぱりとても心配になってしまうものですね。。。

でも幸い、機嫌はいいし、食欲もあります。いつもと至って変わらないのでそこまで大ごとではなさそうです。トラさんも大丈夫。大したことないよと言ってます。よかったぁ～。

でも風邪は風邪。今日は一日鼻たれてました。早く治ってくれるといいなぁ。


Saori got a cold. She is coughing, and has runny nose. Even though I knew that she would eventually get a cold, I worried a lot since it was her first time.

Fortunately, she was in good mood all day, and her appetite was the same as usual. So it seems like it would go away fast. Hopefully she gets well soon!

オランダ人のお友達

A very special friend of mine came to visit us from Amsterdam. Last time I saw her was almost a year ago. I was still pregnant with Saori then!


She has long wanted to see Saori, and finally it came true:) Saori was so good with her and smiling the whole time.

オランダから大切なお友達が遊びに来てくれました。彼女に会ったのは約1年前でまだサオリを妊娠中。その時はお腹が本当に大きかったのを覚えています。

ずっとサオリに会いたいと言ってた彼女。やっと会えて本当に嬉しかったよう。私も来て実際に会ってくれてすごく嬉しかったです。サオリは彼女の前でずっとニコニコとご機嫌でした。きっとサオリも会えて嬉しかったんだろうな。

ひな祭り

今日は3月3日、ひな祭りの日。サオリにとっては記念すべき初節句でした！

March 3rd is Girls Day (also known as the doll festival) in Japan, and it was Saori's first Girl's Day to celebrate!

この日、サオリは生まれて初めてお着物を着ました。

頭にはリボンも♪
On this day, Saori wore her own kimono for the first time.
She also got a little bow on her head!

私のお雛様は今はサオリのもの。

わざわざ送ってくれた両親に心から感謝です。
This set of dolls used to be mine, but now this is Saori's.
Appreciate my parents who shipped it to us all the way from Japan!

ひな祭りなのでちらしずしをケーキ風にしてみました！
I made sushi cake for the party.

こちらも両親が送ってくれた雛あられとお菓子。
These are sweets for Girls Day which were also sent from my parents.

叔父さん＆叔母さんたちを招待してみんなで美味しくランチを頂きました。
We invited uncles and aunt for this party, and we all had a great time.

サオリがここまで無事に大きく育ってくれたことに感謝です。これからもスクスクと健康に育ってくれますように。。。！

I feel fortunate that Saori has grown so much without having any sickness so far. I really hope that Saori will continue to grow healthy!
